Dear Friends,
The other day Steve and I held a coaching session with a young woman in her 20’s to help her speaking and presentation skills. We gave her Steve’s book. Reboot the Speaker in You!
For an hour we asked her to speak to various topics, known and unknown. We shared some of our stories and at the end of the session she was excited to be able to practice some techniques not only for presentations, but for job interviews and also where she works.
Speaking publicly is not easy for most people and with a little encouragement and confidence building, people can do it!
(Side note: We are available to help you and/or any groups you know.)
After the session, I felt so good. It was like I was back to my original calling… to be a teacher. Now I still feel ministry is teaching, however there was something about being with a student that just fulfilled me. I am taking a look at my life to see how I can be of service in other areas of teaching. NO, I do not want to go back to the classroom on a regular basis, however I can be a volunteer in my granddaughters class, if they still do that. I can be a volunteer in a Sunday School class.
Our purpose and our service to God can take many forms and paths.
It is up to us to discover what makes our heart sing.
In the September Science of Mind magazine, it is devoted to PURPOSE and calling. Here are some Daily Guild quotes from Mary Davis.
• “Our purpose is rooted in our tender hearts and in our connection with each other. We are not called on to the change the whole world, only to take one step in the direction of love.”
• “We are not our titles, our jobs or our salaries. We are infinite possibility…when we follow the authentic yearning of our heart.” Ernest Holmes calls it the ‘Divine Urge’.”
• “When a door closes, another door is meant to open.”
• “A future goal is not your life. the path is your life.”
• Create a life that brings you moments of meaning and joy, and the path will lead you to exactly where you are meant to be!”
Purposefully,
Abigail and Steve
